Alumni Spotlight: Tyree Campbell aka Ty Finesse, Turning his passion into professional growth with Sound Academy

Find the right program

Tyree discovered Sound Academy on Instagram after a friend sent him the opportunity. “I was looking for a school or program, and I came across it on Instagram, then my friend sent it to me. I was excited to try it.” With three to four years of experience in music and a team of artists and engineers around him, Tyree saw Sound Academy as the perfect opportunity to grow.

“I wanted to get to a level where I can help people around me and expand my network. I met a lot of amazing people at Sound Academy, people I want to stay in touch with.” From day one, he felt the thrill of being in a real professional studio. “At first, I was a little skeptical about the reality of the program.

But when I arrived at Quad Studios, I felt a real buzz: I was actually there, in a real studio. Usually, I’m just an artist, but there, I was doing hands-on experience, and it was awesome.”

Mastering Pro Tools & Studio Recording

Before Sound Academy, Tyree had never used Pro Tools, but by the end of the program, he was using it with confidence. “I had never used Pro Tools, and after this course, I understand Pro Tools OD. The more I practice, the better I get.”

One of the highlights of the program was recording and mixing vocals live, which allowed him to further hone his skills. “When I got to record artists in the studio, it was so much fun because that’s what I usually do. But mixing vocals and live music was an even more incredible experience.”

A stimulating learning environment

Tyree highlights the positive and collaborative atmosphere of the program, where students and instructors work together. “From day one, we all had a strong connection. The class was solid, with no negative energy. We helped each other, and Lucho explained everything smoothly and in detail every day. If we needed help, he was always available. The guys at Quad Studios are even helping me find a job at a studio, which is incredible.”

Next Step: Build a career in the music industry

Since completing the program, Tyree has focused on studio work and developing his collective, Top Finesse Movement—a group of artists, engineers, and videographers who support each other. “My main goal is to work in a studio and continue making music. The guys at Quad are helping me find work while I continue to grow Top Finesse Movement. I’m going to apply everything I’ve learned to develop the brand and build a career.”

Tyree encourages anyone with a passion for music to seize opportunities like Sound Academy. "Whatever your dream, believe in it wholeheartedly. Any opportunity like this, seize it and give it your all."
