"I think my core teaching philosophy is just getting hands-on experience. It's the only way that you can really learn kind of all of this stuff. You know, it doesn't matter how much you're taught, but only by by really executing it and doing it regularly is the best way to to make it sink in to develop your skills.
I'd say what makes the Sound Academy course unique compared to other courses is that each lesson is held in a working recording studio. So day in and day out there's people that use it professionally and as such all the equipment is industry standard and it gives the students a chance to feel what it's really like to be working in a studio.
I think the best way to prepare the students for a real world studio environment is to give them exactly that to make the learning environment pretty close to how it would be in a commercial session, of course with the safety net that it's still a place to learn.
So I aim to get the students involved as much as possible in setting equipment up and even on a on a personal level getting them to communicate with the artist to develop the the social skills required to work in the studio as well.
The advice that I can give to any any person that wants a career in this industry is: really you've got to want to be at the top of your game all the time. You know, you can never stop learning. If you think you've stopped learning, that's when you've stagnated. There's always something new to learn.
And I think that kind of wanting to have all the the knowledge and be the best at what you do is really important. But as long as you, again, back to the personality thing, portray it in a way where you're not overconfident, cocky, or kind of difficult to get along with, you can have a ton of success."
